The Art of Relaxing

snow flowerContrarily to popular belief, relaxing is not easy nor natural. It is a learned skill.

It is learned in that “relaxing” is more then the absence of work – it is learning to “be” in the midst of life.

Words escape me in how to say things… scary isn’t it?

Some people look at my life and scream “how do you do that? You NEED to slow down.” Yet, whenever I look at my life, I see activities flowing from my heart and soul. It fits.

I’m not freaking out. I like what I ‘m doing – it’s part of whom I am. “Relaxing” to me isn’t stopping some activy and sitting at home doing nothing.

Relaxing to me is being calm and joyful in the activities – it’s learning to go with the Spirit in everything I do instead of trying to make it happen. In some ways, we in the Christian world learn a lesson from the Zen world…..

Which reminds me, I need to request Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance from the library….
